On Chimeras, Hybrids, Cyborgs, and Humans: A Guide to the Inevitable Future

December 6 — December 31, 2022
Triumph Gallery
The words "chimera," "hybrid," and "cyborg" are associated with Greek mythology, biotechnology, and science fiction.
Triumph Gallery presents the exhibition On Chimeras, Hybrids, Cyborgs, and Humans: A Guide to the Inevitable Future—the first in a series of projects dedicated to the relationship between humans and the realms of nature, culture, and technology. The exhibition is curated by Yulia Aksenova, an art historian and лауреат государственной премии в области современного искусства "Innovation — 2021."

The words "chimera," "hybrid," and "cyborg" are commonly associated with Greek mythology, biotechnology, or science fiction. However, the emergence of such "borderline" forms is not always the result of conscious—and therefore responsible—activity: the mixing or transformation of living organisms often occurs as a consequence of careless or even destructive human intervention in the environment. Recognizing this should lead to the development of a new ecological awareness, which the project’s creators see as an essential everyday practice for every modern urban resident.
