Inaccessible Happiness

Alexandra Vertinskaya
March 25 — April 24, 2022
Triumph Gallery
The artist’s new project includes paintings and sculptures that take viewers to botanical gardens and greenhouses, corners of frozen happiness, devoid of time and geographical boundaries.
The Triumph Gallery presents Alexandra Vertinskaya’s personal exhibition "Inaccessible Happiness". The artist’s new project includes paintings and sculptures that take viewers to botanical gardens and greenhouses, corners of frozen happiness, devoid of time and geographical boundaries.

In the traditional Vertinsky manner, the project "Inaccessible Happiness" intentionally aestheticizes flora, but the new series of paintings is distinguished by great picturesqueness, free movement of the brush and some sketchiness. Alexandra creates an airy atmosphere in her works, and the pink glow of the lamps filling the space of the paintings creates a feeling of unreality of the depicted.

In the works depicting orchid branches, the geometric composition is destroyed by the natural chaotic nature of plants: the inner force contained in the flowers is ready to break through the glass roof of the greenhouse, paving the way for its own strength and freedom. With minimal means, Vertinskaya conveys the texture and sensations from different materials: the roughness of a wooden showcase, the cold shine of glass, the strength of metal hinges, the sweet aroma of orchids.

Speccially for the exhibition, the artist created a series of hyperrealistic bronze sculptures depicting flowers in the legendary Fonderia Artistica Mariani workshop in Pietrasanta. Classic in spirit and innovative in execution, monumental sculptures convey the fragility of nature's creatures. In this transition from the flatness of the image to the volume, Alexandra takes a decisive step in the development of her artistic language and opens a new page in her creative path.
