The Secret Society of Eight Corners

Pavel Kiselev
February 16 — March 17, 2024
Gallery "Triumph"
The project is based on an imagined universe created by the artist, endowed with its own culture and language.
Triumph Gallery presents the solo exhibition "The Secret Society of Eight Angles" by Pavel Kiselev. The project is based on an imagined universe created by the artist, endowed with its own culture and language.

"Not long ago, during excavations in the center of Moscow, objects belonging to a previously unknown culture were discovered. It turned out that everything familiar to us today originated from it," the artist recounts as part of the project’s legend. The exhibition "The Secret Society of Eight Angles" is conceived as a museum of artifacts from this fictional culture. The viewer enters a space of a history that is unknown, yet interwoven with recognizable symbols: each object or detail resembles something familiar. Through the combination and interpretation of these symbols, a particular vision of this imagined world emerges. At the same time, since Kiselev operates with recognizable cultural imagery, his works become catalysts for reflection on our own, real world.

Pavel Kiselev’s new project is filled with mysticism and enigmas. It combines futuristic forms with works that resemble artifacts and ancient relics. The exhibition at Triumph Gallery brings together several thematic sections, ranging from those that establish context and an atmosphere of mystery to ritual objects-turned-portals, encoded texts in bas-reliefs, experimental abstract tablets, masks, and books.

Curator: Polina Mogilina.
